BFX Competition

I recently teamed up again with 'Lost Sands' director Aaron Babla, to create an original score for his team's project 'The Boy and the Moon' for the BFX 2014 competition. About BFX:

'BFX is  a five day festival that takes place in Bournemouth, on the south coast of England, from the 24th-28th September (4 days of talks and 1 day children’s workshop in the Bournemouth International Centre) consists of a unique programme of public screenings, presentations, workshops, a career hub showing you how to get involved with the industry, and family friendly events.

BFX hold a competition as part of the festival, which gives over 100 talented individuals from 10 UK HEI’s a chance to pitch and gain a coveted spot in this 7-week battle to be hosted by the National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA) at Bournemouth University (BU) and the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB).

Really enjoyed working on the film, hopefully have it up to show you all soon. In the meantime you can check out the teams' pitch here:

Client Testimonials

"Scott did a fantastic job scoring my animated short 'Goodperson and Shitboy: Shitboy Rents a video'. With minimal direction he was able to provide me with professional calibre musical pieces, which complemented my short perfectly. I would gladly work with him again, and would recommend his services to anyone." -

Kurtis Scott - Post Animation Supervisor at Smiley Guy Studios, Toronto.

------
"Scott is an up and coming composer who has already provided impressive scores for several animations and shorts as well as nailing his first TV ad for me earlier this year. He has a promising future ahead and I would recommend him for your project."

Alex Ball - Music Supervisor at M&C Saatchi, London.

------
“Scott recently helped me with an audio project and I can honestly say that his input was critical to its success. The project was of particular personal significance so Scott's contribution became invaluable and was credited as much as the other contributors.

I particularly appreciated his know how and also the patience when it came to record. His technical assistance with the links and voiceovers really made the difference, and helped get several months of work over the line.

In general he was easy to work with and showed real empathy with, and understanding of, the programme being made - it wasn't just about pushing buttons.I would quite happily work with Scott again should the circumstances arise, and totally recommend him to others as a partner who can bring a project to life.'”

Secret Film Project Revealed...

OK PEOPLE, the wait IS OVER! Incredibly excited to annouce that the trailer for Chris Landy’s “Pixel Soldier” is now online. The film is in the final stages of post production.

The film follows a group of computer game soldiers as they’re sent on a suicide mission, deep behind enemy lines. Out-gunned and out-numbered, we see the harsh reality of life inside a video game as they fight to stay alive in a 16-bit version of hell. Leave no pixel behind!

If you played 8-bit computer games in the 80s and 90s, you will absolutely love it.As a war film, it contains swearing and violence, so don't watch this trailer if that offends.

Freddies Song

Some very good friends of mine, Bristol-based band 'Levi Valentino' have released a charity single to help raise money for the Wallace and Gromit Appeal in memory of Freddie Hussey, who tragically died last month.

Freddie, just three-years-old, was hit by a trailer while walking along Parsons Street in Bedminster, with his mother Donna.

Dan Wilde, a friend of Freddie's family and LV's main song writer, was inspired to write a song about Freddie, and subsequently asked me if I could record and produce it for them. I was very humbled by the request and worked with Dan and singer Dean to produce a memorable track for a great cause.

Freddie's family were moved by the song and gave their blessing for the track to be released in Freddie’s name, with all proceeds going to Wallace and Gromit Appeal at Bristol Children’s Hospital.

The song has already broken into the Independent Singles Chart Top 20 and has been downloaded nearly 500 times in less than a week.

To support this great cause download Freddie's Song via iTunes or Amazon.

Secret Film Project

Over the last 3 or so months I've been collaborating with my partner in crime Mr A Ball on the score for an independently made film, that is, in a word... stunning. Original, fresh, nostalgic (for some) and all incredibly well executed… the superlatives could go on. I'm sworn to secrecy until this hits the waves, but I can only say it has been an absolute pleasure to work on.

The score ranges from bit to epic, from tense to the traumatic, from electronic to orchestral and back. From the opening credits, the anticipation grows and boy does it pay off. Perhaps more importantly, at the heart of it all lies a poignancy that will resonate beyond measure.

My undying gratitude will forever go out to Alex, who scored the majority of the film, but who brought me in to score a few scenes, and of course to Director Chris Landy, who is unquestionably destined for big things.

Unfortunately, it is likely that the film will not hit the internet for quite some time, due to the restrictions placed on film festival submissions, but when it does - the word 'viral' comes to mind, and I don't mean the type that crawls down your throat and makes you cough. In the meantime, talk of private screenings are stirring (more on this to come) - plus Alex and I will be making the soundtrack available for purchase, with bonus tracks and other remix goodies included. watch this space…
